This was my first time ..
feeling so lost, so fustrated,
& so disappointed with us.
Everything was just in a mess.
But still, I knew all of us tried hard.
I'm not sure how the audiences felt.
But, I hope to seek forgiveness from them.
& If I had a choice, I would rather not have this event.
Welcoming & Appreciation Ceremony
As titled, it
was meant for us to mix around with people.
it
was meant for us to build networks.
it
was meant for us to show our appreciation.
But yet ... I feel that we didn't made it.
Every committee member was just too busy.
Most impotantly, the co-ordinator, wasn't organized.
I mean, this event, we organised, was not because it was a routine.
It was to achieve our objectives.
We invited people; so we have to ensure they're satisfied,
they leave with a happy face, if not, then don't do it.
Because it's going to impact us, negatively.
Ironically, I'm glad,
glad that some people I called were not there.
Ke hui & Melanie - Who is going to socialize with them, I wonder.
Anyway, I realised something about us, long ago.
Wc did pointed out this to me, repeatedly too.
JDY's clique were too bonded such that it prevents others entering.
Generally, we don't take initiatives, we don't talk to people whom we don't know.
However, we're supposed to because it was meant for networking.
Feedbacks:
1. Date & Venue
As learnt, choosing the right date is important.
Do not clash with other events, and most importanly,
ensure all (if not, most) committee are available on that day.
Venue - Ensure committee can enter event way earlier than participants.
So that deco team can act as a supporting role during event.
2. Programme - Not attractive enough.
If you realise, our event focus a lot on speech.
Except for a game and skit, it bores participants, esp youths.
3. We have people to do work, but we need people with supporting roles too.
Solution: Before the start of event, as BYs have finished their EOY, we could ask if any of them wants to join our committee. (Voluntarily)
People are needed for:
- Event coordinator
- Event execution (Performers, Emcees)
- Supporting event (Food, welcome, decoration, prizes)
4. People are unsure of their roles.
Solution: Ensure everyone knows what to do, be detailed, emphasize on objectives.
Assign the right role for the right people. Those who cannot take initiatives to talk to people whom they don't know, cannot play the supporting role.
5. Food: My suggestion is, we don't assign everyone to contribute a kind of food.
Instead, we have a team who specifically prepares food, they plan on their own.
This is proposed because: The intention of every JDY preparing food was to show appreciation to TZ men. However, it is observed that most JDY asked their own parents to prepare for them, it hence already defeats the purpose. So why not try another method next time. Furthermore, after preparation; they can act as a supporting role during the event - to ensure that communication between QSN & TZs/parents/other youths is efficient.
Uptill here -
Last but not least, still GELMCB
w/o bigmummy's support,
we might have did worse.
Hence, Gan En! [:
